American Heart Association Recognizes MailSouth as a Start! Fit-Friendly Company
I am proud to announce that MailSouth Corporate has been recognized by the American Heart Association for developing employee health and wellness initiatives in the workplace. We received a Gold Level Award for supporting the American Heart Association’s Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Program which recognizes organizations that excel in over a dozen criteria related to nutrition, physical activity and promoting a wellness culture.
Since launching the Helena Fitness Center in May of 2008, we have accumulated over 4,000 miles on our cardio equipment – congrats to those of you that are staying fit by enjoying our great Fitness Center! Most of you know that in February, MailSouth sponsored multiple relay teams in the Mercedes Marathon. Some of you actually came “off the couch” and into the race by training hard for several months. Alabaster’s team blew our socks off! And special kudos to those of you that took advantage of corporate sponsored smoking cessation programs and the Scale Back Alabama contest. I trust that all of you are keeping up your commitment to physical and mental wellness.
If you haven’t tried out the Fitness Center, you should! Many of our employees utilize it every week: “I try to use the fitness center everyday for about 30 minutes if my work load permits”, says Kristen Burns, an accountant at MailSouth. “After having a baby in April 2008, I have gotten back to my pre-pregnancy weight & tone, and now have the energy I need to chase my one year old all over the place!” Another employee, Alison Zilinskas, says she uses the equipment almost every day. “If I didn't have access to this equipment I wouldn't be exercising. I don't have time at home so this enables me to exercise.”
